Emmet CAhill speaks to Irish Music Daily and answers questions from fans

We were inundated with responses and have selected the best questions to put to Emmet.

1 Nancy Okstulski: What stage musical or opera would you consider performing
in?

Emmet Cahill: Good question – music theatre and opera have always been of great interest to me. If you gave me a role right now I think Marius in les Miserables would be great. Vocally I would like to try some Mozart operas Marriage of Figaro or Don Giovanni would be fun.

2 Lorna Gillingham: Have you decided what musical style you want to follow?

EC: I am working on that right now with the album. I have performed such a wide variety of music over the past few years. Sometimes it is so hard to choose as I enjoy various aspects of the different types of songs. I feel I must choose the music I love the most, and allows me to express who I truly am. So there will most certainly be lots of Irish music in my shows, which I know you all love too.

3 Valencia Smotherman: Would you ever let Colm cut your hair again?

EC: No. Once was enough. Mr Keegan would be safe sticking to the singing for another while yet.

4 Jeanne Hatter: Is it too bold to ask what is your idea of a romantic date?

EC: Ha I have had some limited experience of these to be honest. Going out for dinner is something I always love doing. So yeah food has to be involved haha. Maybe a pint afterwards, I am Irish after all. Movies are always fun too but I don’t know if that’s very romantic.

5 Ann-Marie: What is your absolute favorite song that you sang solo with CT?

EC: Great question – it would have to be ‘Always there’ I just think it’s a beautifully written song and it certainly meant a lot to me to get to perform it all over the world. You guys should tell me your favorite solo.

6 Maria Gabor-Martinez: What is your favorite Rodgers and Hammerstein musical?

EC: Too hard to choose a musical – I love so many of the songs. I did a concert recently of their songs and loved it. Some enchanted evening, If I loved you, people will say were in love…so many classics.

7 Katrina: Are any of the songs on your upcoming solo album written by yourself?

EC: Great question. I have recently started doing a lot of writing and am absolutely loving it. I have been collaborating with writers here in Ireland and in the states so we shall see what we come up with over the next few months. Recording my own songs is definitely in the plans at some point.

8 Tonia Hill How many cities are you planning on visiting throughout your solo tour?

EC: Hopefully as many as possible, this will be my first solo tour so I look forward to getting to see as many of you as I can. Planning that will begin soon so I’m very excited.

Thanks to Emmet for taking the time to speak to us, we look forward to hearing the new material.
