Gary Moore – An Irish music legend

It was so sad to hear of the death of Irish guitarist Gary Moore at the age of just 58.

Gary was a supremely gifted guitarist who set himself the very highest standards.

He was born in Northern Ireland but moved to Dublin when he was only 16 and quickly became a major figure in the local rock scene.

He started with Skid Row alongside Phil Lynott. The two were to team up a few years later in Thin Lizzy.

It will be for his work with Thin Lizzy that many people will remember him best, especially his incomparable performances on the Black Rose album.

But he also produced 20 solo albums and had several hits, including Parisienne Walkways.

Gary didn’t just win the admiration of his fans. He was also admired by other musicians of the highest quality, including guitarists like George Harrison, B B King and Eric Clapton.

He was one of the best musicians of his generation, not just in Ireland but across the world. We will not see his like again.
