Magdalene charity video

Some of Ireland’s top stars like Sinead O’Connor and Daniel O’Donnell have come together to produce a wonderful song and video in aid of the Magdalene survivors’ charity.

The video is sure to move you, anger you … and possibly make you cry. But it will also hopefully inspire you.

For those who may not know, the Magdalene survivors were young women who were locked away in homes run by religious orders for no other reason than they may have had a child out of wedlock … and often for far less reason than that. See more and video.

Many spent their entire lives locked away

Many spent their entire lives locked up for no greater crime than being too pretty or for having been sexually abused.

Many were left institutionalised. Others, who were perfectly sane when they went into those grey institutions, later developed mental health issues because of the way they were treated.

It was a national scandal that shocked Ireland when the facts became known.

The video features the song From a Distance

Young Irish director Steven O’Riordan has just produced a video featuring the song From A Distance.

All the proceeds from the song will be used to help the Magdalene women build a national monument to commemorate all Magdalenes.

Please take a look at the video. It’s sure to move you. Remember, if you buy the single, then all the money will go to help the Magdalene women.

And please help Steven and the performers spread the word. Tell your friends, put it on Facebook and Twitter and any other platform you use.
