Celtic Thunder stage their annual auditions

Celtic Thunder have been taking a look at potential new members for their hugely successful stage show.
The band’s management holds auditions each year in a quest for people who might be good enough to join the group or act as an understudy.

Auditions were held yesterday at the Helix in Dublin. The group would particularly like to find a new talent from Derry, following the success and popularity of Derry residents, Keith Harkin and Damian McGinty.

Jean Clancy, the group’s music manager said: “We have been very lucky in the past with the amazing talent we have cast particularly Damian McGinty and Keith Harkin.

“Damian has obviously gone on to great things with GLEE! and Keith is finishing up his debut CD with producer David Foster who has produced records for Andrea Bocelli, Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Brian Adams, Christine Aguilera, The Bee Gees and many more.”

The auditions don’t necessarily mean that anyone will be chosen to join. Nor does it mean that any of the current members are leaving. Indeed, they are all under contract until May next year.

However, if someone is lucky enough to be chosen from the auditions, they could be joining a group that have released several albums and completed several hugely popular tours of North America. Celtic Thunder have performed for hundreds of thousands of people including President Obama at the White House.

As well as their huge success as a group, individual members like Keith Harkin, Ryan Kelly and Paul Byrom have also gone on to have successful solo careers.
